Roundup: This Week's Top Recruiting Stories From Around The Web

Recruiting Roundup: This week how to spring clean your ATS, how to improve job interviews and more!

Spring Cleaning Your ATS
It's the first day of Spring (finally) and after a long, long winter we can look ahead to warmer days. The first day of Spring always puts me in mind of spring cleaning, being an orderly person who loves lists, I like to look ahead be cleaning out the clutter. So, this is a re-post of sorts. last year we talked about the Six Quick Ways to Spring Clean your iRecruit Account, and these are still great tips today.

Why so many job interviewers are terrible
FORTUNE -- What songs best describe your work ethic? How many cows are in Canada? A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here? Those queries come from the Top 25 Oddball Interview Questions for 2013, as compiled by the job hunters' website Glassdoor. Allegedly, they're all actual conversational gambits used by corporate interviewers. You may think such questions could produce useful insights. Or you might see them as off the wall. But are your interview questions any better?

The Perfect Recruiting Email
You found the person you want to recruit. Maybe you found them on LinkedIn, maybe from your own database, maybe you found them through a trade magazine byline. Wherever you found them, you now have one important task: get their response and interest through a simple email.

3 Ways LinkedIn Profiles Affect Professional Perception
Social media, and specifically social networks, have become an enormous part of how we live our lives these days. It’s a lot more than just a simple way to stay in touch with friends and family; the boundaries of “what matters” online and “what matters” in the real world are merging. For example, I’ve noticed this with birthday recognitions. I know many people who’d prefer to have 300 people write “happy birthday” on their Facebook walls than to receive a phone call saying the same.

Why Would Anyone Not Want the Job You Are Offering?—The Two Main Reasons
Think of any occupation and ask yourself why there are people who would never want to do that job. Generally, it’s very easy to come up with reasons why—for each and every job. Now think about reasons why they wouldn’t want the job you are offering.
