Company Website
Above and beyond the top source was your own company website. Many applicants look here first to see if you're hiring, and to find out more about your company.

Employee Referrals
Coming in second was Employee Referrals. You can take advantage of an Employee Referral program by educating employees about your job openings, using social media recruiting to expand your network and offering rewards to promote referrals. (See Encouraging Employee Referrals with iRecruit)

Newspapers

Coming in third on our survey was Newspapers. Overall newspapers still rate highly for people searching for a new job, both online and in print. Since newspaper advertising can be quite expensive this is one of the more important items to track.

Friends or Relatives
Friends/Relatives also are one of the top ten referral sources for all applicants. This ties in with your social networking efforts. The more you post, the more people will share. (See Using Recruiting Hashtags with Twitter)

Social Media
Social media makes our list of top referral sources with You Tube, Twitter and Facebook all rating a mention. However, LinkedIn is by far the most used referral tool in the social media sphere. Since a good number of applicants hear about available positions through friends or relatives it's always a good idea to keep your social networks informed that you're hiring.

Job Boards
Indeed.com was the top referring job board on our survey. iRecruit automatically posts your job listings to Indeed.com, making it really simple for you to attract applicants. (See 3 Tips for Posting Jobs on Indeed.com)

Other notable job boards were CareerBuilder.com, Craigslist.org, Monster.com, Yahoo, SimplyHired.com, Workforce.com, the Department of Labor, and various local job boards like DCjobs.com.

Industry specific job boards or publications such as MediaBistro.com and Dice.com were also rated highly on our survey.

Other sources of hires included Walk-In applicants, job fairs, and applicants from various college job sources.
